"Happiness is our birthright." - Yogi Bhajan

Enjoying healthy and happy relationships with our beloveds, friends, family members and co-workers is our birthright.  When we attempt to put everyone first and care for others before ourselves, a natural stress and tension begins to grow.  That tension often leads to feelings of resentment toward others and also a sense of powerlessness in oneself.

From a young age, many women are socialized to take care of everyone else before themselves.  Often the women who model this behavior are deemed as good and lovable.  Many women growing up thinking we have to "work" in order to be lovable and prove ourselves worthy of love and care.  This pattern often creates unfulfilling relationships and inner stress.

During this workshop, we will cut the cords of conscious & unconscious codependent behavior and reclaim our power and ability to self care through Kundalini Yoga technology, creative arts and deep discussion.  Join Dev Avtar and Siri Pritam for this powerful afternoon - your relationships will never be the same again!

"Every emotion we feel is a gift from our Soul. Our emotions connect us to our inuitive wisdom. Our intuitive wisdom connects us to our Spirit and to the Great Infinite and this helps us think outside of stories and patterns we may be accustomed to. Learning to identify and trust our emotions, we gain more access to our intuitive wisdom.

When we ignore, deny, numb or suppress emotion, we create blocked energy and dis-ease in our mindbody. We don't mean to do this, but it happens subconsciously for many reasons. You're invited on this day to learn tools for emotional well-being and experience the benefits of emotionally healthy living. Learn how to feel all emotion in a healing way, so you can enjoy a satisfying relationship with yourself and others. "

40 Day Prosperity Practice

"One prosperous thought is more powerful
than a thousand thoughts of failure."
- Yogi Bhajan

Kundalini Yoga has really shifted how I conceptualize prosperity.  I am still learning and bringing awareness to my relationship with money.  There are moments when the relationship between me and money feels hopeless and there are times when the relationship feels rich with possibilities.  How we interact with money is A LOT about our relationship to ourselves.  Money is often reflecting whatever stories we have about our needs and wants.  I have always admired people who are fearless in spending money of what they believe they deserve they need.  There is something powerful about relating to money as a deserving being.

When I decided to enroll in a Kundalini Teacher Training, I reached out to my friends and family for help.  I had just graduated from grad school, did not have a consistent job or income, and yet I felt in my soul that I needed to be enrolled in this training.  I humbly bared my vulnerability as I started a GoFundMe page and asked for help.  In that moment, I revealed that I needed help.  I could hear my inner critic going wild, hating the idea that people would know that I didn't have my life together.  I also felt free; I felt free to not have to pretend I did have life together, and it felt miraculous as folks I knew from many different walks contributed to help me with making my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training happen.

What I received covered most of the cost of enrollment.  And then, each month I travelled to L.A which was a whole separate cost - food, air travel, transportation to and from training, and whatever tools and books needed for training.  I was blessed by generous friends who opened their homes to me during trainings; I always had a beautiful place to stay when I was in town.  I started to notice that each weekend, it, worked out.  The money, the travel,  the accommodations, the getting back to the Bay Area in time for work on Mondays.  I began to learn what grace is through receiving so much grace.  I don't know what grace is, but I can tell you what it feels like for me.  It feels like relaxation, like putting your feet up and watching a beautiful sunset and feeling your shoulders relax, and noticing tears streaming down your cheeks as you bare witness  to the beautiful creation of God which you are apart of.

I have recently taken a risk and decided to lead a Women's Yoga Retreat in Puerto Rico this June.  This has been my DREAM - facilitating explorative spaces where magic and healing is witnessed!  This is what makes my heart sing!  I have already gotten a few sign ups (there goes Grace again), and lots of inquiries.

One thing I was noticing was people saying they wanted to come but feeling restricted about joining because of money.  While I am not able to lower the prices of my retreat, that I have designed to be affordable, I am able to share this POWERFUL technology of Kundalini Yoga and what happens when we decide to re-align with our birthright of prosperity and abundance.

“Normally there is no power in the human but the power of prayer. And to do prayer, you have to put your mind and body together and then pray from the soul. Ardas Bahee is a mantra prayer. If you sing it, your mind, body and soul automatically combine and without saying what you want, the need of the life is adjusted. That is the beauty of this prayer.” — Yogi Bhajan

Complete Mantra:
Ardas Bhaee Amar Das Guru, Amar Das Guru, Ardas Bhaee, Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Ram Das Guru, Sachee Sahee

Directions: Sit up tall in an easy posture or chair and relax the shoulders and upper arms.  Bring the hands up to the height of the heart and interlace the fingers and grip tighter than usual.  Eye gaze is focussed at the tip of the nose.  Chant the mantra any amount of time - 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 12 minutes or whatever length of the recording you would like to chant along with.  For more directions click HERE.

Here are my favorite versions of the mantra to chant with (FYI - many can be found on Spotify or Apple Music):
Ardhas Bhaee  by Mirabei Ceiba
Ardhas Bhaee by Nirijan Kaur
Ardhas Bhaee by Snatam Kaur

About this Meditation: This meditation is a mantra for answered prayers.  This is also a good meditation for connecting to the soul and loosening the grips of the ego.  We gain experience of peace and prosperity through this mantra.  This mantra gives us confidence that all are needs are met and ALL prayers are answered.  This can be helpful when going though a situation that seems hopeless or when you feel stuck.  This guarantees that your prayers are heard.  (Note: This was my mantra for passing a big Clinical Exam I recently took)

"This mediation stimulates the mind, the moon center and Jupiter.  When Jupiter and the moon come together, there is now ay in the world you will not create wealth." - Yogi Bhajan

Complete Mantra:
Har Har

Directions: Sit up tall in an easy posture and pull your chin in slightly.  Eyes are almost closed with the gaze at the tip of the nose.  Elbows are by the sides, forearms angled up and outward with the fingers at the level of the throat.  This exercise starts with the palms facing down.  Alternately hit the sides of the hands together.  The pinky fingers and the Moon mounds (located at the bottom of the palms) hit when the palms face up. When the palms hit facing down, the sides of the index fingers touch, and the thumbs cross below the hands with the right thumb under the left.  Chant Har, Har along with this recording of Tantric Har.  Each time you chant Har alternate the hands movement.  Chant from the navel, using the tip of the tongue.  Please chant from 3-11 minutes, and do not exceed 11 minutes!  Yogi Bhajan said, "This meditation can be done for up to 11 minutes.  It is so powerful in bringing prosperity that more than 11 minutes would be greedy." For video instructions click HERE!

Tantric Har is recommended to chant along with for this mediation.

About this Meditation: "Har is one of the aspects of God—the Creative Infinity. Yogi Bhajan said, “Har is a Shakti Yog mantra, Har is the original God, and sometimes, if you chant just that one word, Har, with me, you will realize God in just a couple of seconds.” - Yogi Bhajan.  This meditation attunes the mind to the vibration of prosperity.  Blockages to prosperity are dissolved.  The mantra Har  translates into God and Infinite Creativity.  When we chant this mantra and do this meditation, we align with the infinite create God-source that we are.  We can begin to recognize ourselves as that infinite creative.  This will open the flow of prosperity in your life and is known to manifest CASH MONEY! (Note: I did this mediation for 40 days when I first moved to the Bay Area for grad school and was delighted by a finding a great job and increased income and opportunities!)

Healing Karma With The Divine Masculine

Full Moon Blessings

Yesterday I finished a 40 day practice chanting the sacred prayer, So Purkh.  I chanted this prayer 11 times a day for 40 days.  In Kundalini Yoga, it is common that we commit to at least a 40 day practice with a meditation or kriya, as 40 days help to establish breaking a habit.  Yogi Bhajan shared the So Purkh as a powerful prayer for women to recite to change their karma with men, heal karma with men, attract their masculine soul mate or elevate the men in their lives.

I have spent a lot of time and money in therapy and other healing technologies to understand and figure out what my issue with men is.  For example, why do a I have so many wonderful first dates that never move forward into even a 2nd date?  Why is heartbreak experienced with men more normal in my life experience than feelings of trust and faith in men?  Like many other women and men, I have daddy issues, have experienced sexual assault and violation from men, and I know that some of my own trauma history informs how I relate to men, but does this mean that it will always be this way?  What is wrong with me?

January 1, 2017 came and I decided to start.  Perfect timing, I thought to myself, my 40 days will be complete right before Valentine's Day and maybe by chanting I will manifest a Valentine! (Oh, how my ego loves to go into control mode! hahah).  So I began January 1st.  I kept a journal daily, and by the 11th day, an interesting image came to my awareness.  It was an image of my own inner masculine.  He appeared gray-ish and dull.  He sat in a chair, somewhat lifeless, apathetic, numb and cold.  I saw my inner feminine, she on the contrary, was buzzing around working herself into flames.  And she was EXHAUSTED!  She was angry, resentful, hopeless and also determined to survive.  Seeing how these inner archetypes in me were interacting was chilling.  So often I have attracted men who fit some of the description of my inner masculine and I turn into that inner feminine who is working over-time to support herself and him.  I usually end up feeling unappreciated and unsupported by my male counterpart and become angry, resentful and hopeless.  To see how this was operating in me was both saddening and hopeful.

I realized: My inner feminine is exhausted.

My inner feminine was doing everything for me, she was doing the things that really were not her speciality.  She was operating as the yoga teacher, therapist, student, head of household, professional, intuitive and the list goes on.  And hence, she was tired.  What she was needing was sleep, play, relaxation, and fun.  But for years, there was no time for any of that, and she had adapted.  I noticed my inner masculine was also exhausted.  His exhaustion looked different.  His exhaustion was due to atrophy and lack of confidence.  He felt so un-needed by the whole of me, that he grew apathetic and decided he would also adapt to the way things were playing out and fade away.

I realized the next morning when I woke up, I needed them both.  I need all of me.  I joke with my students sometimes that I watched too many Disney movies growing up.  Particularly Sleeping Beauty was my favorite.  That is the one when the princess is asleep and cannot wake up until her Prince Charming comes and kisses her.  Yea, I admit I internalized that.  I have been thinking I have been waiting on a literal Prince Charming to wake me up.  I didn't realize I could wake myself up.

We are composed of many archetypes - and each person's composition is different.  When I say inner masculine and feminine, I don't necessarily mean a man and a woman, I mean an energy of being active and an energy of being receptive.  In my own psyche's construction - they are imagined as a man and a woman for me to interpret the dynamic.  I have an inner child (actually a lot of them), an inner hermit, an inner slut, and inner mother, an inner ladybug, the  list goes on.  It may sound trite, but chanting So Purkh has helped me to bring more dialogue to my inner archetypes and find out what they all need.  In this way, I can start to give myself what I need, rather than keep seeking a man to come in and rescue me and give me what I need from myself.

Becoming the woman that I AM mean trusting and relaxing.  When I am constantly running around and exhausting myself, I am doing it because I do not trust myself or God.  I am working from a place that I am all alone and that nothing can happen without running my ass ragged.  Many self-help books and teachers employ this theory as well - they shout at us to "do work" and "move past issues", but never uplift the idea that in our stillness we may already be what we are "working" to be.  Chanting So Purkh has made me give myself permission to put down the idea of work and to put on the gown of trust.  To trust that in stillness, I am already whole.  To trust the art of "not-doing" as valuable and healing.

full moon magic tea

today, sunday aug 10, 2014, the moon shines in it's fullest capacity in the sign of .  the full moon is a time of full expression as well as a time to check in with our new moon wishes and intentions that we set when the sun and moon were both in leo.

aquarius represents the duality of being both yourself and being in a group; honoring your uniqueness and voice while also working in solidarity as an ally to fellow community members.  sometimes groups can make some folks quiet their voice.  the point of groups is not to conform, but to be your fullest, divine, unique, expression in the company of others.

full moon magic tea:

  • 8-10 oz water
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1-2 drops of doterra lavender essential oil
  • raw honey to taste

boil 8-10 oz of water as though you were making tea.  pour the water over the dried sage.  i like to use a metal tea infuser to put the sage into in order to keep the mug clean.  allow the tea to sit for about 10 minutes.  remove infuser and add lavender an honey.  also tastes great as an iced version.  sip slowly and enjoy the fullness of the moon and your body syncing to the moon.
